![]() ![]() I also like the fact that I can run PersonalBrain on my PC at work and on my MacBook at home, sharing some of the same databases via Dropbox. ![]() Essentially, the application allows you to drill down to any level of detail in your information and still see the bigger picture, and it does so far more effectively than any other piece of software I've used. To adequately describe PersonalBrain would take more space than I have here, and there is no need to, because the developer provides wonderful videos and screencasts. P.s.PersonalBrain is an excellent application, but has a few faults. It's just something to watch, as the idea of AI on a personal level is interesting. I'm not interested in having it sync my Google calendar, or other limited accounts currently available. For the time being, I'm just letting it sync new entries in my Pocket account, and since I seldom add anything there, it will be a long time to see any results. It wants 1000 entries in its "memory stacks" before it will even "train" to reveal its wonders. I'm a bit miffed that gave us a tease a month ago about TB 13, and nothing since!Īs to the reference I made above to Personal.AI, I think it has a long way to go before I'd invest much time in it. Well said! I agree in general I use Todoist and sometimes PriorityMatrix, for meetings, tasks and projects. At it's core, TheBrain has a lot to offer ~ and it will be interesting to (eventually) see what the dev team has prioritized in the next go 'round (version 13). However, I can say that after 5.5 years of testing the various versions of TB on it's new platform (versions 9-12), I'm focusing now on other projects ~ but I will check out v13 whenever it is available for review. Why?Thank you for your candor, I've shared many of my personal concerns about the status and focus of TB development in the past, so I won't reiterate them here ~ especially since I realize my concerns are not the priority here. (And there is still (still!) the forum and other references to v12 'beta'. There is no teaser hype (2 twitter references which may have been pulled don't count), no trello roadmap, seemingly no adaptation to a more transparent and proactive way of doing things, no update on any kind of API or plugin system, no "leak" of v13 features I wish we learned more by now. Why?Įdlemko wrote: I wish I knew more about where thebrain is. ![]() I wish I knew more about where thebrain is. I mean, they do explain and walk through the latest in features, yes, but they are in the business of growing subscriber bases, not being your (my) fiduciary. Maybe obsidian and all the others are so busy building features (that nobody needs?) that they almost never deep-dive into successful case studies showing us real world gains, using and adapting their particular flavor of PKM.Īnd it has seemed to create an absolutely burgeoning garden industry of youtubers and other opinion-givers and 'reviewers', breathlessly applying their particular brand of folksy banter, rambling detail, sarcastic slapstick, and other techniques to ride the pkm wave and advance their viewership. "So I linked everything together, and I'm still not more productive." Your link - quite an indictment of the product and maybe even the whole link-everything-together pkm product ecosystem. Have not found a great tool for that - looking for a combo of an endless canvas graphic tool with a markdown file storage - roughly Miro + Obsidian. I am also trying “sense making”, writing such that it helps clarify my ideas about complex issues in the world. My current focus is to write more of my own creative thoughts, and Obsidian feels better for that for me than The Brain. Good that it is Markdown but no way to get it out. I also feel “locked in” with originating notes in The Brain. I create daily notes in The Brain but not quite the same. If The Brain could watch a folder and had a Daily Note, i would have the Readwise stuff flow into The Brain and would probably stop with Obsidian. Harlan has hinted at improvements in v13 in the editor, so we will see. I keep trying to have my free form writing be in the Brain, but it never sticks. Personal Writing and Passions - Obsidian.Books - Kindle, to Obsidian with ReadWise along with Tweets, Highlights from PDFs and articles.I agree there are certain categories of things to take notes… My experience with that author is the same for The Brain, lots of stuff goes into the Brain but not that much comes out.
